I got blasted last week for expressing the same emotion Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 5 Apr 2016 03:31:58 In Reply to: 2006 Saab 9-3 Airbag Recall, Ingrid, Mon, 4 Apr 2016 08:20:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This problem with the Takata airbags has exisited for over 10 years yet manufacturers continued to install them. Now our cars are being recalled - and I mean all affected models not just the Saabs - yet no replacement parts exist.
The $70 million dollar fine levied by the US Gov't is effectively only $10 or $15 per faulty air bag. No wonder I don't see what I feel is sufficient impedus in providing replacements.
And what kind of idiot feels installing small fertilizer & fuel oil bombs, substances which are sensitive to humidity and whose predictability degrades over time, in the dashboard and steering column is a good idea for safety devices?
