flex plate damaged Posted by Pete [Email] (#2000) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Pete) on Mon, 15 Aug 2016 09:04:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Asked dealer to replace engine crankshaft seals, and torque converter seal. The torque converter spout was sheared and needs replacing. They also said the flex plate was damaged. I took a look at it, and it looks like the mechanic bent the flex plate removing the transmission. (I could tell it was a recent thing, as the scratch marks on the plate were shiny and not rusted). I was surprised the dealer was asking me to replace it when the mechanic bent it. That will be an interesting conversation when it is all done. Is this normal if the snout is frozen into the pilot bearing that the flex plate can be distorted? (I could buy a used one on line, and presumably it wouldn't have any damage from removal?)
Any insight welcome.
Thanks.
