Detroit area convertible hoax Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 13 Mar 2017 16:25:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
I was perusing the local Craigslist ads for Saab convertibles. I don't need one but I am always looking. Anyway, I spotted a 2007 9-3 Black convertible in the Ann Arbor area for under $2100! Writer extolled the service this car received, the features on the car, etc. It is listed as an automatic and my sister wants a Saab convertible with a stick, but Hey! Local car, must be worth looking at.
I expand my search area a little and I find an identical car listed in Toledo! Almost the same price, ad placed only one day earlier, different photo angle but the same features listed plus a special exhaust system from a World Famous brand that I have never heard of. Too weird. Must be the same car and the owner commutes between Ann Arbor and Toledo.
So I search the internet for the exhaust system brand and I find a third identical car! This one offered on eBay in mid-February out of Florida, with a more reasonable $6,000 asking price. Ad copy is identical to the Toledo car and auction expired with car not being sold.
My guess is that some huckster stole the photos and description from the eBay ad, and is now trying to get lusty convertible buyers to wire him $500 or so to lock in the sale of the mythical cars sight unseen at the too low asking price. Cars which do not exist.
Be cautious!
