2006 2.0T 9-3SC Brake Pads and Ignition Coils Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 11 Mar 2018 12:55:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am in the process of amassing parts for Spring maintenance on both our daily drivers. For the wife's 9-3SC this includes brake pads, and ignition parts in particular.
I have been happy with the original equipment front pads on her car, so I bought what were advertised as OEM Saab pads. The pads are made by Pagid, have no Saab PN printed on the backing plate, and appear to be a semi-metallic rather than ceramic pad. Are these actually OEM? I replaced the rears years ago with Akebono EuroCeramic pads to eliminate the OEM rear brake dust, a condition the factory front pads never exhibited and one that I do not want to experience.
Ignition coils. Is Saab OEM the only path to success, or is the OE supplier of these coils known and available in the after-market? With over 90K miles it is probably time to replace the coils with the next sparkplug change. Saab branded coils are $85 each on-sale. Trying to not be stupid by paying too much, while simultaneously trying to not be stupid by replacing with a low quality part.
Thanks,
