Yes, very hard to pinpoint exactly on the road, but easy enough with the car in the air. What my indie Carmine did last time was to remove only one wheel at the time, and lift the car just enough to let the other tire touch the ground. Only one bearing is spinning and makes it easier to pinpoint which is bad. It can be done on a floor jack, but it is easier on a lift.
Another possible bad bearing on the right side is the one that supports the jackshaft from the transmission to the CV axle. It is bolted to the back of the oil pan. If there is any play there, you have a smoking gun...
