Rear Upper Control Arm Replacement

I'm looking for some tips or even some words of encouragement concerning replacing the rear-upper control arms on my 2006 9-3SC 2.0T. I put it up on jackstands yesterday with the rear wheels removed and sprayed PBlaster on the nuts and bolts. But how on earth does one get access to the nuts on the inboard side of the control arm where it is attached to the rear subframe?
Of course, dropping the fuel tank would appear to greatly simplify access but that seems somewhat extreme. I thought about attempting to first remove the rear sway bar but since this is no longer my daily driver I thought I would reach out to the group and hopefully get some tips.
Thanks,
Jim
