I need to schedule my 60,000 mile service. Dealer wants 600 bones for the maintenance work scheduled in manual. I have read here that I should also consider replacing my serpentine belt and idler pulley. How can I tell if these parts really need replacing - is there visible wear and tear? Or is it just a given that a 5 year old car with 60k needs these replaced? And how much extra should the belt and pulley cost? This seems like a very expensive servicing!
