I too had similar incident with my Aero. It was very scary. It happended after driving the car for 30 minutes or so. I would stop at a light and the engine would surge even though the tach stayed put. In fact the only way to stop it was to turn off the car and restart. Once it happened and I couldn't restart so I got a tow to the dealer. The dealer's diganostics did not show anything. However, the dealer recommended to let his technician drive the car to and from work for a couple of days to see if he could reinact what happened, which he did with a lap top hooked up inside the car to monitor the engine. Sure enough it happened. The dealer located the problem and fixed it under the warranty and I have had no similar problems since. I am not a technician so I can't exactly explain what it was but it had something to do with a temperature sensor in the engine that would raise and lower the engine thinking it was cold when the engine was already hot. To be sure after the repair the technician drove the car again and confirmed that that was the problem and it was fixed. I have to hand it to the service manager, he really went through the paces to find out what the problem was and to repair it quickly.
