I kept getting a small amount of coolant on the driveway so I brought it in. Turned out to be a leak in a plate that sits between the heads, under the intake manifold. There is an oil cooler radiator below this plate that gets bathed in coolant. I think the tech had to do it twice as he found out about a parts change too late. It has something to do with a combined rubber and steel seal that is now all steel. He said the leak is a known issue in v6 engines, although he had never seen it before.
They also worked on the shifting problem. I get a hard downshift from 3rd to 2nd occasionally. The dealer had previously updated the software and deleted the adaptive memory. This time I think he did that again, changed the tranny fluid and analyzed the old fluid. He also said that saab told him there has been issues with the 2003 tranny but not my 2002. Saab also now has a case number for my problem. She ran ok on the way home. Thats a good sign. I am gonna put some miles on it this weekend so we will see.
