Lots of responses already, but here's my experience:
2000 Aero Wagon
City - typically a 12km (8 miles?) each way commute, reasonably open 60-90kmh roads but several traffic lights, plus other normal running around I get 12-13l/100km = 18-19mpg (US). I use the sport mode a bit and enjoy the shove in the back when the boost gauge is in the red...
On a trip to Sydney, cruise at 120kmh I averaged 8l/100 = 30mpg (US) That was 300km of freeway, probably 100km of fighting into the centre of town and back in heavy traffic, and 300km of freeway home. On one stretch of around 75km the computer told me I averaged under 6l/100km or 40mpg!!
For the performance, and the weight/luxury of the car, I consider the consumption to be acceptable around town and excellent on the highway.
Cheers
Steve
