The problems are when the deposits interfere with movement or change flow patterns too much at idle or low throttle positions. So if the bore is clean around where the throttle closes, and the deposits are removed from the edges of the throttle plate, then that is all that is needed. I would put a drop of engine oil on the pivot points if a carb spray is used as that can degrease things. And a lot of carb cleaner down in the plenumn has been a source of pain and CELs, so a word to the wise, use as little as possible or none. One can swab with a paper towel or cloth with mild solvents (paint thinner), and close the throttle on the same to clean the edges. The lower edge is hard to clean.
