Our 2005 G35 weighs within a few pounds of its predecessor 2002 9-5 Linear sedan. With the same driver and same (almost all city) driving conditions, the G35 averages around 14mpg where the 2002 was usually about 18mpg. I suspect the difference is in the reciprocating mass (V6 vs I4) and power (285 vs 185hp). And if a 3500 pound car with a 3.5L V6 is getting 14mpg, what must those Hummers and Expeditions be getting?! Now that gas is back over $3.00 here, that must sting.
