Another OnStar Rant.... (a bit long?)

My Y2K 9-5 was in for service and they replaced an OnStar module in accordance with a recall on same. Then the dealer tried to connect with OnStar (which must take place from the car) to activate the new module.
The result? 1.5 hours on hold for them before I took the car, then another 1.0 hour on hold and still no OnStar rep (just the recording that everyone was busy. Duh!)
So I called them from my home and was told that they're a bit busy due to GM's 0 % financing and that there is nothing they can do (except feel sorry for me - how comforting). They cannot activate the acount without me in the car, and when I'm in the car, I go into the queue from hell.
The one good thing about this is that it just made my renewal decision very easy (which is due next month). Politely but, I cannot even begin to imagine a scenario when I would sign up and pay money to be put on hold for 2 1/2 hours.
It's interesting that earlier this week I got a survey card from OnStar inquiring about my satisfaction level. Can you say "non-existent"?
I do feel sorry for the folks on the receiving end of Customer Service calls to OnStar, because if others are having this same lousy service, they must get very tired of apologizing for their POS company.
