Brake Pads Revisited on 2006

I posted this query earlier that my 2006 9-5 sport sedan had less gripping and harder peddal effort stopping than my '03 Aero. Yesterday after my wife drove my car (she has an '05 9-5 Arc), she commented that something is wrong with the brakes. She loved the power, but immediately noticed that stopping was not great. I drove her car right then and there, and could easily appreciate the better performance in breaking...less pedal effort and quicker grip. Two questions: 1)Can the '06 pads be swapped out for a better performance pad (even the previous pads)? 2) Is it just the pads, or has the booster/force distributor been changed? Interestingly, I read a review from Australia that specifically noted the brake issue on the new Saab. I'm incline to accept the dust and get back the performance. Thoughts appreciated.
