Esp acts as tcs, having both is pointless.... ...since esp controls slippage in all aspects as compared to tcs just controlling wheel spin. On my TT quattro, the esp controls wheel spin (i've only ever spun in the snow, the grip is too good in dry conditions) and sliding by backing off of the throttle and/or by the application of braking force to 1 or more wheels to try to correct the vehicles sliding (if you search for it in google, you will find several good sites that explain the basic concept of esp better than i can without a REALLY REALLY long and boring post) so that you maintain control of the vehicle. The TT's bypass switch will turn it off completly @ any speed, for deep snow or for having fun. I'm hoping to power through some corners in the snow this year, WITH snow tires which i forgot about last year and slid through a corner @ a mere 10 mph, hitting a curb, cracking the lower bumper panel, ruining 2 rims, and bend a tie rod to the point that i had the wheel turned 1/3 of a rotation left to keep the car going straight (if esp wouldn't have been on, it would just have crashed off the road, it was bad, the alignment was like this \ / not too good). Audi had the kindness to send a letter to everyone 1 week after my accident, warning about the tires lack of winter traction (this was sent to tt and 24 owner with bridgestone potenzas on them, i will say my father was driving the car, and i had told him he needed snow tires, but he ignored me. I think i've said enough for now...
