Your comments have a few contradictions in them. You sais that all front wheel drive cars need AWD. If that were the case, they would no longer be front wheel drive cars, right? Will Saab ever make the 9-5 an AWD car? NO. Not this model.
You said that oversteer with a FWD car was dangerous. I agree that oversteer is dangerous, and that's why the 9-5,like just about every other FWD car made, tends to UNDERSTEER when pushed hard in a turn.I have never heard of any magazine or testing service reporting that a fwd car went into oversteer when pushed hard.
Torque steer? Viggen maybe, but not so much in the Aero. Light steering? Usually the opposite is the complaint, since the wheels have to transmit power while being turned. Vague? Personally I feel that the 9-5 hasa very direct and solid feel to it's steering. Not quite as nice as the 9000 Aero had, but very good by comparison with other cars that I have tried.
I tend to agree that the 3 series is one of the nicest in terms of steering feel and responsiveness, but would not want to try to get up my slippery driveway with one in winter.
Twin turbos? Why do you feel that twin turbos would lessen the turbo lag?
The turbo in the 9-5 is a fairly small unit already, in terms of it's airflow capacity, but it has a quick response due to the electronic throttle position sensor being use to trick the turbo into responding to part throttle openings with full throttle boost from low rpm settings.
The number of turbochargers would not by design change the turbo lag issue in of itself. the overall design of the induction system would have more impact on this. Things like the flow capacity of the intercooler, length of the intake tract, air volume within it,etc.
Not that I would be against a twin turbo V-6 at some point.....
