Dealer agrees to perform a title search associated with your deposit!
Progress is very slow. I have a brother-in-law who sells Chevys on the west side of the state and is perennially one of Chevy's top salemen nation-wide. I asked him about my situation - i.e. does what I am being told make any sense, and how long will this take?
He groaned and said he has had a couple deals in his career with similar problems, and that resolution is not quick. The biggest stumbling blocks are GMAC and the Secretary of State's office. These two entities are step #1 and #2 in the path towards correction and neither is fast moving or customer oriented. He suggested involving the Dealership Owner or General Manager (and cautioned me that honey works far better than vinegar) since GMAC in particular responds quicker to requests that come from the top.
We finally got the key person at GMAC to request an expedited title for the 9-3 on Aug 24th. Unfortunately, when dealing with the Sec'ty of State the word expedited means only that the title will be over-nighted to GMAC after it is eventually printed. Apparently there is no mechanism for accelerating the reproduction of the title! (Maybe I should call Jennifer G.)
I am probably still a week away from having all legal paperwork for a car I "purchased" on May 31st. What compounds my frustration is the number of people who noticed, and had the opportunity to correct, this problem BEFORE we bought the car yetno one did.
