Although I traded an '02 325iT for my '06 9-3 Aero SportCombi and prefer the Saab ultimately, BMW definitely does some things better from switchgear to material feel/quality and more. A bit further back in my car history, my '97 528iT, 5 speed manual was absolutely wonderful...only thing I wish it had was the sport package. Agree that the back seats were cramped a bit, tho. The E39 platform overall is simply one of the best -- even to this day.
It's difficult to compare the two marks -- both offer different things but then again they compete. I'm hopeful for Saab's future; BMW certainly has paved its way.
