Thanks for the replies! I had the serpentine belt, tensioner pulley and waterpump replaced along with the timing belt and tensioners. Everything in the whole belt set up is new so the belt rubbing on the edge of the pulley's theory seems plausible. I will bring it back to the shop to see what they say, as I'm a bit worried about the long term effects of this. If the edges are a bit uneven, how long would it take to wear down? I would love to hear other people's experiences!
