I still have my '99 9-3 'vert, and just picked up an '04 Aero SW a few weeks ago. I no longer look forward to driving my 9-3 (!), and I truly can't wait to get behind the wheel of the Aero every weekend.
Maybe bumps are exaggerated with my convertible, but the Aero suspension is incomparable to the 9-3's ride. I love it, the perfect balance between road feel and comfort. My 9-3 is on 16" wheels with low-profile tires, and my back teeth are in much pain most of the time.
The Aero is also much faster, as you would have guessed. For the 9-3, I have the 3" airbox mod with the funnel speaker tube, removed the turbo silencer, installed K&N panel air filter, and the TBTC porting, and the Aero just blows my 9-3 out of the water.
The Aero sits lower, so watch yourself pulling into parking spaces and coming up driveways. The redesign to the front of the 2004 Aero is awesome IMO, and one of the reasons I got the '04 over the '03. I love walking toward it in the parking lot, it looks so good!
My first thought on driving the 300 miles back home from the dealer was, "So this is what Saab can do." Seriously, you will feel like a flight attendant walked back to your seat in coach and just gave you an op-up to first class. (Didn't happen to me on my flight up to pick up the car, but I *did* fly in a Saab...to pick up my Saab. Far fewer people appreciated that then I thought...)
That price sounds pretty good for the sedan version. Good luck and enjoy.
