John and Lou, thanks to you both. I honestly wish I could take an A4, an A6 and an Aero, mix them together in a giant pot and pour out the perfect car! All these cars are great and each has special attributes. Thats what is making this decision soooo hard.
Here in Ottawa, we get a fair bit of snow and ice. Today, we had freezing rain. My Acura with 4 snow tires and FWD does just fine in this slop. However, the AWD Audi I have driven is confidence inspiring. I have driven an Audi onto the gravel shoulder at 100kph and not had the wheel even vibrate. The steering is precise and the grip and traction incredible.
However, I drove the Saab to 160 kph without effort and had fun getting there. My problem is I want the fun of the Saab, with the confidence of AWD, and the interior of the Audi (the Saab interior is nice too). The S6 costs "only" $88,000 Cdn, about $28,000 over my maximum. I agree with John, this would be a great choice for those with unrestricted budgets.
The people on audiworld.com are of course very biased towards Audis. They seem to generally hste Saabs. I find their position most unreasonable. Both cars are great, but for different reasons.
The debate continues.....
