I've used 89 in my 2000 Aero manual and did not see a decrease in MPG nor did I really feel the power difference in daily driving. When I tried it during warmer weather though, I did hear an increase in knock/ping at lower engine speeds. You could try a couple tanks of each grade and see how it goes.
