The rear tires on Saabs tend to wear more on the inside tire edge due the the negative camber.
The front tires tend to wear more on the outside tire edges, as is typical with most front wheel drive cars.
How often are your rotating your tires? I find that I need to rotate the tires on my 1998 SAAB 900SET every 5,000 miles to equalize the wear. If you rotate your tires frequently, then it would seem more likely that there is an alignment problem with your vehicle. A 4-wheel alignment may pin point the problem.
