White plugs are not necessarily bad... Posted by Larry West [Email] (#1140) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Larry West) on Thu, 20 Mar 2008 09:50:45 In Reply to: 9-5 spark plugs, Joe Caparosa, Tue, 18 Mar 2008 20:17:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If the car is not showing any other signs:
Poor running/starting
increased fuel consumption
MIL (Check Engine) light
etc.
I'd just put the new plugs in and not worry about it. If you don't have any of the above, there's not a lot the dealer can do. Modern engines tend to run leaner than older ones, and may exhibit signs like this. This isn't like the old days, when fuel mixture was not nearly as precise as today, and erring on the side of "rich" kept the motor from having other problems.
I had an electronics instructor tell me "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Have a good day!
