Suspension Work - Somewhere like Midas Okay? Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Mon, 16 Jun 2008 19:48:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm thinkin' it's time for some new bushings all around on my 2001 9-5 sedan with 180k miles on it. It probably needs front struts too. I don't want to do bushings myself because they look like a royal PITA to have to get out without the proper hydraulic press. Basically right now I've got some clunking and creaking over bumps and the car handles like a Ford Econovan - not so much fun at all. I pushed down on each corner and bounced it but it stopped pretty quickly. I do notice that when I am moving in traffic or inching forward at a light and then reapply the brakes hard enough to stop the car bounces for and aft more than normal I think. I did a visual inspection today of the bushings and stuff and didn't see any cracking or anything. Should I be able to if they're bad? Are front struts easy to replace DIY if I have the bushings done by someone else? I know non-Saab specializing people like Midas usually have no clue what they're doing on Saabs but is the suspension setup idiot-proof enough for me to take it to them? Thanks a lot in advance for any help. I'm no suspension expert so I am clueless as to what needs to be done. Everything is still from the factory in my car's suspension except rear shocks and front wheel bearings.
