Re: Buying a Used 9-5: What should I look for? I've had my 1999 9-5SE 2.3L for 5 weeks now and have been pleased. I bought the car with 33K miles and am now up to 34.5K. I paid $18K for it. The car spent 3 days in the shop getting the 30K service and new rear shocks, idler pulley, and muffler replaced under warranty. My advice is to buy a well cared for car that still has a fair amount of factory warranty left. In my case I have a year or 16K miles of factory warranty remaining. By then I should know if I have a problem car that I need to get out of. The car is a great driver and gets lots of looks (they're rare in Georgia).
Go for it!
