All:
Just picked up my silver '02 Aero Wagon with charcoal interior, auto transmission and full touring package yesterday...took her home the "long way" from Charleston, SC to Fayetteville, NC (250 miles). Took the "sidestreets" to vary the speeds and stop about every 75 miles for 10-15 minutes to let my baby cool down (opened the hood and let her breathe).
1. Build Quality: Exceptional. Very solid, good quality materials inside and out. Paint appears flawless...though haven't thoroughly examined yet.
2. Sound System: Exceptional. I am very impressed with the HK system set at default loudness setting.
3. Xenon Headlights: Wow...especially with the brights on.
4. Power: We'll see when I hit 1,500-2,000 miles. I am taking her real easy during break-in, but would tease myself with little short bursts.
5. Handling: Exceptional, although new suspension/ESP don't completely take away "body roll".
6. Sport Seats: Very nice...just put a "coat" of Lexol on them babies tonight in the garage. Exceptional quality...love the new thicker hide...very soft, yet firm with the right amount of side bolstering.
7. Rear View Mirror: Very nice feature (auto dimming)...cannot hear it adjusting...unless I just couldn't hear it over rocking to CCR. My '86 Olds 98 had the feature...but you could hear it kick-on and off...kind of annoying...this one seems silent and really helps.
8. Cargo Rails: Great feature...secured my backpack in the bungee webbing ; secured the load quite nicely.
9. Overall Appearance: Sweeeet...rims are so nice on the Aero...and the ground effects and lowered chassis makes it look quite aggressive...but in a clean way.
10. Dashboard: I like it..not getting use to either...liked it when I first layed eyes on it. Really complements the silver exterior and charcoal interior.
11. Rain Sensing Wipers (haven't tried) and Saab Park Assist (used briefly to test...nice feature just knowing that I have another set of eyes back there).
My only annoyance is what someone else reported...steering wheel slightly off-center to the left. The car tracks like it's on rails, but having the steering wheel not dead center is a little annoying. We'll fix at 1,000 mile check-up.
More later once I run it a little longer.
Regards,
JD
