Well back in my aircraft transparency (window) days, one of the recommend products for polishing out acrylic windows was 3M Finesse-It kits, which I do believe has been superseded by 3m Perfect-It. 3M makes a headlight Perfect-It headlight lens restoring kit, which I suspect would be too pricey for the average car owner (it is designed for auto shops). It uses sanding disks running in 4 steps from 500 grit to 3000 grit and then a couple types of polishing compounds and disks after that. In other words, good luck. I'm not sure where you would find sandpaper that fine, though it does exist and in even finer grades. Some place around here I have samples, from a aircraft window repair shop, of 6000 and 8000 grit cloth.
