I've just ordered an 02 Aero - Steel Grey with Charcoal. I test drove a Steel Grey with Beige interior and thought the effect was cheap and nasty - the only thing I didn't like about the car. My first 9-5 was in poverty spec, base model, and it had the plain black plastic dash which I never really got to like, but at least it was inoffensive. The silver version seems like that base model plain plastic that has had someone spray silver - more reminiscent of Alfa Romeo than Saab, and not fitting in a flagship car. Thus I'm not particularly impressed. I'm seriously considering paying nearly £500 for the genuine Carbon Fibre dash that used to be available from the Accessories catalog if I can find one in stock somewhere. I believe its now been discontinued (not sure why), but I believe it would look a whole lot better than silver painted plastic. Another alternative that would look nice I thought, would have been a Bird's Eye Maple dash with a grey stain, but again not available. The simple fact that the Silver dash is causing so much controversy amongst Saab enthusiasts suggests to me that they may well be losing sales over it. For me, its a fairly trivial concern, especially as I'm going for the upgrade spec (with the free electric seats/Bi-Xenon/Park Assist etc) which sweetens the deal. But I'm still seriously contemplating swapping the dash when it arrives. I'll take a look at it first though, with the charcoal interior, before making up my mind.
