>>>Have you seen the incredible deals being offered on CPO BMW's?<<<
In my neck of the woods (Central CT), far as I can tell, the comparable cpo BMW would be approx $10K more than the Saab.
What's "comparable?" is a good question. Probably, as someone who works in the industry, your answer might be different than mine. I would compare a 9-5 to a 3-series, same year, similar mileage and options.
I'm guessing you would counter that the cars when new didn't have the same selling price. And you may be right, but I'd say that the Saab's variable selling price has the effect of pushing down the used price, since the buyer can't tell what it might have originally sold for. Check out the disparity in advertised new prices for '08 9-5s. Some dealers try to hold the line until they have to clear the lot. Others are now having clearance sales on '09s.
I think we'd agree that a cpo 9-5 can be a heckuva deal for the value consumer looking to buy a solid, enjoyable car for not much, and then run (with recommended maintenance, of course) up to 200K.
P.S. Sometimes on bad-weather Sunday mornings, I watch a half-hour teevee show from a local MB, BMW, Buick dealer. An entry level, '06 cpo MB-C asking price is around $25K; BMW 3-series is comparable, maybe a little lower; the poor Buick is about half the price of the MB and BMW. [The thought that this makes the Buick the best buy must be tempered by the thought that the owner then has to see it in the garage and drive it for years.) A local Saab dealer had an '06 9-5 cpo with 15K miles asking $17.5. If I were buying right now, I'd prolly opt for the latter and still be driving it in 2016.
