I have already managed to damage the leather in one place with my cell phone clip - it was a while before I saw the nick and realized that I was doing it while sliding out of the car (2001 Aero Wagon). The leather seems to be really soft and damage prone.

Any ideas on filling or repairing the nick so that I don't feel it as the wheel spins past my hands? It doesn't show because it's on the bottom near my left knee.

Also, I really think the engineer who developed the leather shift knob goofed big-time. The impressed numbers and stitching have sharp edges that are very uncomfortable to me. I think a plain leather knob without any numbers would be much better.
