I disagree, according to what I found at Car & Driver, 4th peaks at 120MPH at 6000 RPM, 5th gets you up to 150 at something like 5550 RPM. This is about a perfect top gear, getting top MPH almost dead on the peak HP, i.e. it can't go any faster without more horses or better aerodynamics. If it was an overdrive designed for smooth cruising, it wouldn't get you 30 MPH faster than 4th. It would also be geared to reach its top speed well below the horsepower peak RPM.
By the way, I believe it is 2250 at 60 MPH not 70.
