The antennae mast is the component in a mobile phone that produces the energy which has raised concerns. Positioning the mast as far away from the head as possible is ideal. It is important to note that the energy significantly drops off within just a few inches of the mast. Having an antennae outside of the cabin further isolates the user.
A greater danger is present with people operating these type of devices when driving. Handsfree operations help to limit the danger but not completely eliminate it.
The device can be disconnected and not utilized which is an owner option.
Please be advised that fumes from fuel have also been linked to cancer but currently I am aware of a no means to disconnect the fuel system and still have the car function.
Also cars have been directly linked to death and injury due to accidents and other occurences. However I would strongly advise against switching over to walking on a highway to get from one point to the other.
