But there's NO mention in the ad of having the timing belt, tensioner and pulleys done at the 60k service.
THIS MUST BE DONE! Expect to pay an independent Saab Specialist in the neighborhood of $1500 to $2000 for this job. And every other TB change (120k, 240k, etc.), change the water pump, too.
So, it's not a $7,600 car, more like a $9,100 car...
Have the IRIS report done by a Saab dealer. This can show if the TB was done, assuming it was done at a Saab dealer.
But that may give you some bargaining leverage.
But so long as you keep on top of the oil changes, and other scheduled maintenance, it is a VERY smooth motor, strong, and a great highway cruiser. The thing just eats up the miles.
I owned a 2002 Arc sedan for 15 months before someone ran into me. Picked it up with 84k, and no evidence of the TB having been changed. I had that done immediately. I loved every minute of driving it. One of the best Saabs ever.
