It might be that the power steering pump (or rack or pipes) on the 9-5 operates under higher pressure or that the aluminum pump housing is not stable enough to take the vibrations.
That's pretty much the only difference between the OG9-3 and the 9-5 and the OG9-3 have never had any vibration problems even though it came with the short belt from factory. The OG9-3 (like the NG900)uses an older style cast iron power steering pump.
But it seems like the newer 9-5s can take the short belt since all have it from late 2004 and I have not read many complaints about those cars.
