Went to a mechanic Posted by Ryan [Email] (#2222) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ryan) on Wed, 21 Apr 2010 09:32:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
and complained of a good shaking upwards of 65 mph on my 1999 SAAB 9-5 SE automatic with 104,000 miles. Thought it might need balancing at the front end but weights were new (i bought this used three weeks ago so i didn't know)and tires, rotors, and rims looked good.
He drove it and it turns out all that shaking is from worn down parts...the rack and pinion bushings, sway bar bushings, and sway bar links. And yes, the shake is heavy in the wheel.
He quoted me 350 dollars labor and said it would be a one day, all day job. So parts now...i've found some things on eeuroparts and stateofnine but am finding that things are called different things in different places...i.e. i'm not sure if this 18.00 rack and pinion boot kit is what i need or not.
Main Q...are these parts expensive? I believe some of these are rubber. I'd appreciate any feedback on these parts/finding them or any info on this type of mechanical work.
