Replacing Balance Shaft bearings - how to get them out Posted by Gary Stottler [Email] (#1463) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gary Stottler) on Thu, 8 Jul 2010 10:14:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all,
I am rebuilding a 2001 2.3L B235 engine that lost oil pressure. Ended up failing #4 piston and all the main bearings. Have torn the thing down to the bare block and never found any real reason it lost pressure in the first place (pickup was fine). I have read that an intake side (I think) balance shaft bearing can go and cause loss of oil pressure. The BS bearings are hard to get a good visual on, but from what I can see they don't look that great, so I bought new ones (these are the "back" ones way back in the block) and want to replace them since I've gone to all the trouble of turning down the crank and fixing everything else.
However, I can't get my hands on the Saab tool for pulling them out. Does anyone have a tested way to remove those before I go paying a Machine Shop to press them out and replace the soft plugs?
Thanks!
