I just finished the replacement and the car starts every time now! It was past the intermittent stage to full fail stage and my daughter needed the car tomorrow so I decided to go for it after finding the part at Pep Boys.
The job took me about 4 hours. I could do it again in about an hour, even going the long way I am about to describe. I have big hands and long arms.
1. Consulted fixmysaab.com but stopped following those directions after I removed the blow off valve.
2. Removed battery and battery tray.
3. Removed one end of (a) the top radiator hose and (b) the fluid hose that goes from the reservoir to the block and move them out of the way. I lost some coolant - oh well.
4. Removed hard pipe from throttle body so it moved freely.
4. Removed exhaust manifold heat shield.
5. Raised car and put on jack stands.
6. Partially dropped the down pipe by loosening the three flange nuts, pulling out the pipe and removing the two lower bracket bolts. The unit dropped a few inches, enough to give me extra room to work.
7. Bent and moved out of the way as best as possible the heat shield/protector over the CPS.
8. Using the "from the top position", guided the Torx 30 with a swivel joint attached into the head of the retaining screw then snapped together extensions to a ratchet.
9. Easily removed the shield, screw and CPS.
10. Consulted fixmysaab again on how to string the cable and connector.
11. Put everything back together.
12. Started the car and celebrated.
