02 V6 with 160,000 miles

Earlier this summer it wouldn't start. Crank yes, but wouldn't catch. The CPS and coolant temp sensor were replaced in spring. No fuel on the fuel rail, so I replaced the fuel check valve. After getting the battery recharged (must have burned it up a bit on all the starting attempts) the car ran ok for about 2-3 months. To make it run better, I changed the spark plugs, and that made the car start up very quickly.

There is definitely a vacuum leak coming from the hissing brake booster. And I have that engine code for the front O2 sensor.

The only problem I was having (an odd one) is that the first 15-30 seconds of driving whenever the car was started (regardless of it being cold or hot) would be really sluggish. During that time you could put the gas pedal in all the way and very little would happen. A few seconds later, it seemed like the car figured everything out and drove normally. I figured that was related to the brake booster leak, but I could be wrong.

Today (after having packed the car to move) the car wouldn't start. Exact same behavior. Cranking but not catching. Nice whine from the fuel pump but nothing on the fuel rail (for whatever it's worth, right after not starting the cooling fan would click on for a minute or two. I add that only because there's no damn reason for that to occur, since it's rather cold and rainy right now. Though I know the thermostat needs to be replaced, that shouldn't keep the car from starting.)

btw, I did remove the items from the back seat, just in case it was affecting the fuel system in some way. Still no start.

I'm at a loss.
