I tore mine apart last summer; the pictures are in my gallery. The wear I noticed the most was in the center of the spring-loaded contacts where they ride the central bakelite plastic rails that lift them from making contact. The wear is visible as a copper color showing through the silver colored plating. Mine only had about 112K on it when it got too unbearable to tolerate. Once it began to put the transmission into limp home frequently, I had to pull it out and fix it. Since I cleaned it and reassembled, I've only had one episode of the no restart problem. and that was in Oct 2011. Some of the grease on the sides of the contact arms (unused) was still viable; the grease on the contact strips was dirty with metallic particles and dry. I used a little dielectric grease on a Q-tip to re-lube it after cleaning.
