That's not true. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Fri, 9 Mar 2012 07:57:00 In Reply to: The point is..., Stephen Goldberger, Fri, 9 Mar 2012 07:31:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had a 2002 9-3 in this week with old software and P-1312, 1334 and 0340 logged.
The car was way past 120K service at 148K so I decided to install new spark plugs at first since it already had the TK3.7 IDM and see if it might be enough with just spark plugs.
It took about 20 restarts and driving until suddenly all three codes came back at ones. Before that, no codes had been triggered during the earlier starts.
But if you mean those dumb IDM testing tools and fail codes they integrated into the later software, then yes, those are not working without the new software but they are also worthless in detecting a failing IDM. Codes 1312, 1334 and 0340 are much more accurate.
What's more important in the software package is the change in knock sensing signals and such.
