The lower shock eye fits into a very shallow recess Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 24 Mar 2012 16:58:00 In Reply to: "it just comes right off"..., Snowmobile [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 24 Mar 2012 16:08:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The lower shock eye fits into a very shallow recess on the lower trailing arm. I suppose it is possible your trailing arms have undersized recesses which would cause them to become a press fit rather than slip fit after tightening the lower shock bolt. I would definitely remove all paint from the outside of the lower shock eye, and liberally apply anti-seize to prevent corrosion from taking hold at this junction point.
I doubt the problem is the lower shock eyes as it happened with both pairs of shocks from two manufacturers. Still, it is odd it happened to both sides of the car.
