And I got my first (stupid) speeding ticket a month ago, and don't want another. I didn't floor it when I saw what he was doing, I thought he would go behind me but nope there he was trying to pass on the shoulder, so I had to step on it some more. I couldn't really "get away" to de-escalate things as we had caught up to traffic ahead of us. But there was hardly anyone behind me when I was merging onto the highway so he created the situation out of nothing but thug behavior.

To really get away I would have had to weave in and out like this crazy thug was doing to others after he pulled back up to my bumper.

Where the altercation started there was less volume, but I guess we caught up to the pack in front of us while it was happening. This is urban, not open roads to be sure.

Defensive driving is let the guy cut you off on the shoulder anyway but then if he gets mad and slams on the brakes in front of you, as he did later, then my insurance blames me.
