Just recently had set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport installed. In the 235/45 17 size a set of 4 was 644 (744-70 rebate by mail) + installation.
Seems to be the current darling among many of the testers right now. I don't have enough experience to really judge yet but they feel very good underfoot and I think they will prove to be a really nice summer tire.
Design is sort of interesting. They are really pushing the asymmetrical properties about as far as they can for an all purpose summer tire design in my opinion. The outer third is all about massive contact area. The outside tread blocks don't appear close to full depth. Water management appears to be exclusively about the deep circumferential grooves on the inner 2/3rds of the tire. Just looking at the tread I expect strong responsive cornering (which seems to be the case) but think they may develop a little more of a tendency toward hydroplaning as they wear than some tires perhaps. However, handling seems to be very well regarded on both dry and wet surface by testers (but wet surfaces without "standing" water are of course much different than with "standing" water).
I wanted to have chance to run a least one really decent set of tires on this car so I am looking forward to summer driving.
