As a final effort today I hooked up a very large Chicago Electric 1/2" drill circa 1950 to the crank bolt on the front and with the help of a friend I cranked the motor. It got up to about 800 rpms and lo and behold oil came gushing out of the oil filter bracket. I had removed both the sending unit and the filter because I could not tell which direction the oil pumped in the WIS diagram. It would have made more sense for the oil to go to the sensor first but it goes to the filter first. Quite a relief to not have to take off the timing belt I spent so much time on getting perfect and the assorted gears and pulleys that have yet to be broken loose.
I start sticking this mama back in the car tomorrow. Thanks a million for your info.
