What I do is siphon coolant from the reservoir. When that is empty, I can then see to place the siphon tube down into the reservoir's lower hose outlet. The remove more coolant. I have done this on the I4 [NG900] and had zero coolant loss. You can do this for the sensor or the t-stat.
[ You can do the above, then the upper rad hose is dry, then you can remove the rad hose and then run siphon tube down through the rad side tank and empty the rad. Remove the T-stat and then shop vac the rad, air flow will clear the cross tubes.]
I had a temp sensor failure. Removed the connector, checked ohms on the sensor [did not remove], that was good, placed a resistor across connectors on the harness connector and the temp indicator responded. Reconnected and things worked perfectly. The connection must have been bad. ['03 Aero]
