I'm sort of assuming it has one, and if so, it is "calibrated" against the new GM oil standard "dexos." Like the GM engine in the 9-3SS it uses an oil-to-water heat exchanger that maintains excellent oil temperature control and was designed from the start around an XW-30 viscosity. M1 5W40 won't hurt anything, really, but is thicker than necessary and therefore hits fuel economy a little bit with no reward. Ditto M1 0W40, only less so. Anyway, the important part is that the oil you use be in line with the oil change monitor. It operates by keeping track of engine use, not by measuring the oil itself.
