AC temperature and test

Hi folks,
Two questions:
1) Today it's about 100F outside, and on a trip home from a nearby town (mixed interstate and hwy, avg speed 65 mph for about 25 miles), I was unable to get the temp. of air coming out of my center dash vent below 50F. Is that about right, considering the ambient temp. outside? Or, is it likely that I need to have the AC system checked for R134 charge levels, etc.?
2) If I do need to have the system checked, is there anything so exotic about the Saab AC system that a competent general service shop cannot do the job? (I.e., variable-capacity system and all that.)
best wishes,
David
