Rear Camber Disease

I think my 2004 at 80k is showing symptoms of the malady with more pronounced wear on the outer edge of the rear tires but when I think back it's been 4 years since I had the car aligned and at that time the rear camber was approaching limits, so my thinking is to order and install the camber shims (did so several yrs back on the 1999 and it stopped excessive tire wear) and then take the car in for alignment because I think I read posts a while ago saying rear toe in would need to be corrected.
Can't recall if alignment shops are willing to check the rear camber and give me a readout, then I wouldn't be guesstimating the amount of shims needed, then install and get the alignment done. But again on my 1999 I just went ahead and installed the max recommended shim thickness and the results were good.
But just want to get the thing aligned once so would there be any significant downside to just going with max amount of camber shims and then having an alignment performed ?
thanks
