...of the gauge being slow to pop up. My 9-5 (2004) fuel gauge used to pop up immediately, and then one day it started occasionally waiting for a while to register after a fill-up. The "occasionally" is predictable: if we go below around 1/2 a tank, the gauge gets stuck. If we top off sooner, it doesn't. The baffle must catch something below some level in the tank. An interesting one last week: fuel light came on, but the tank was full at about 2/3rd the volume... I track our fuel consumption, and it was premature for the fuel light to come on...
If it is acting very erratic, it could be something more than just the baffle, but it wouldn't hurt to remove the baffle... I'm lazy about delving into things fuel related though so I've left ours as is...
